Mick Jagger reportedly wrote while jamming at Studio 54, the legendary New York nightclub.  The song has a danceable groove and bass-driven rhythm that give it a hypnotic, almost seductive 1970s disco era energy.  It is about missing someone deeply, even while surrounded by nightlife, movement, and noise.
